The Crimson Tide hit a season-best .310 as a team, its best in conference play since 2016
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball turned in its best performance of the year for senior night Sunday in Foster Auditorium, rallying from a 25-21 loss in the first set to win the subsequent three, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-21, for a four-set win over LSU.
Alabama (2-5) and LSU (2-3) put on an offensive showcase in the opening set, hitting .417 and .600, respectively, as the Tigers earned the narrow 25-21 win. The Crimson Tide responded by winning the second frame by the same score and then not allowing LSU to take a lead past the three-point mark of the third set, taking that one by a score of 25-18. A neck-and-neck fourth set featured 13 tie scores and six lead changes. Tied at 17-17, a 5-1 run from Alabama gave the Tide enough cushion to hold on and win the set by that same margin, 25-21.
Alabama's .310 hitting percentage is its highest since hitting .405 against Alcorn State on Sept. 14, 2019 and its highest in conference play since hitting .314 on Nov. 23, 2016 against Ole Miss. The Tide's 65 kills and 61 digs were also season highs.
Kennedy Muckelroy and Alyiah Wells led Alabama's potent offense with 17 kills each, career highs for both, hitting .455 and .438 respectively. Abby Marjama also finished in double digits with 14. Muckelroy was a force at the service line as well, tying a season high with four aces. Doris Carter was rock solid on serve receive and in the passing game, finishing with a career-high 18 digs.

FROM HEAD COACH LINDSEY DEVINE
"The grittiness we showed today is a testament to the expectations we lay out in practice. We talk a lot during practices that they should be hard so that when the situations come up in the game, it's a lot easier. People were aggressive out of system. Kennedy knew exactly what her range was on the court and that gave LSU a challenge. There's nothing better as a coach sitting on the sideline seeing your team do whatever they can to keep that ball alive."
