Former Alabama players shine in the fourth week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The fourth week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week four by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Amari Cooper excelled on the offensive side of the ball for the Dallas Cowboys. The wideout hauled in a team-high 12 receptions for 134 yards and added a score to his name. Cooper currently ranks second in the league in receptions and third in receiving yards. Despite Cooper's big day, the Cowboys fell to the Cleveland Browns.
A key to the Browns win was their domination on the ground against the Cowboys. Former Tide offensive lineman Jedrick Wills Jr. helped provide holes for Cleveland's 307 rushing yards on the day. Also providing a push on the offensive line was Jonah Williams. The Bengals left tackle helped Cincinnati reach the end zone twice on the ground. Individually, Williams did not allow a sack on the day in helping his Bengals earn their first win of the season.
The ground game was highlighted by former Tide running back Damien Harris. Making his first NFL start after returning from injury, Harris led the New England Patriots in carries on Monday night, rushing 17 times for 100 yards. His big night was highlighted by a 41-yard run late in the third quarter.
On the defensive side of the ball, two former Alabama defensive backs led their respective squads in tackles. One of the week's most impressive performances came from Baltimore defensive back Marlon Humphrey, who recorded nine total tackles for the Ravens. Humphrey also added a pass breakup and a forced fumble to his stat sheet. Deionte Thompson also posted a big game on Sunday. The Cardinals safety totaled a career-best nine tackles and added a pass breakup in his team's loss to the Carolina Panthers.
Rounding out the defensive side in week four were linebacker Reggie Ragland and safety Landon Collins. Ragland recorded six total tackles and added a sack for the Detroit Lions. Collins led the way for Washington with eight total tackles on the day.
