
Alabama Volleyball Drops Thursday Contest to Missouri, 3-0

The Crimson Tide resumes play next weekend on the road at No. 4 Florida
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama volleyball fell in Thursday's rematch against seventh-ranked Missouri, as the Tigers won in straight sets 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19 inside Foster Auditorium.
Alabama (0-2, 0-2 SEC) and Missouri (2-0, 2-0 SEC) traded back and forth early in the first set but two scoring runs, including five-straight to close it out, gave the Tigers the opener, 25-16. Missouri nearly built a double-digit lead in the second but, trailing 19-11, the Crimson Tide scored four in a row to draw within four. Later at 21-17, Missouri closed out the frame with a 4-2 run to win 25-19. The Tigers jumped ahead to an early lead in the third but the Tide chipped away at the deficit, eventually drawing within two at 9-7. A service ace from Alyiah Wells made it a one-point game at 13-12 but Missouri took the momentum back, eventually winning 25-19 to complete the sweep.
Getting her first start at Alabama, transfer Abby Marjama led the team with 13 kills and a .346 clip along with two of the team's five aces. For the second-straight match, Meghan Neelon posted double-digit digs, finishing with a team-leading 10.

"There were some different points where we put a lot of effort in, communication was high and we were taking some aggressive swings. We were doing some things together as a team to challenge Missouri. We were challenged by them to string those points together. Credit to Missouri, they are a very good team. They served aggressively and they have some experienced, crafty players on the front line. We can certainly learn from playing talented teams like Missouri."

The first contest is scheduled for a 6 p.m. CT start on Friday, Oct. 30 live on SEC Network with the teams meeting again on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m. CT.
