Former Alabama players shine in the sixth week of the 2020 NFL season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The sixth week of the 2020-21 season in the National Football League wrapped up on Monday. Below is a look at some of the highlights from week six by former Crimson Tide players currently in the NFL.
Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry posted a huge day for the Tennessee Titans. The tailback carried 22 times for 212 yards and two touchdowns while adding a pair of catches for 52 yards. Henry's second score of the night was the game-winning touchdown in overtime against the division rival Houston Texans. Thanks to his impressive performance, Henry continues to lead the NFL in rushing yards on the season with 588 through five games. Fellow running back and Tide teammate Kenyan Drake provided a big spark for Arizona on Monday night, rushing 20 times for 141 yards and two scores. His efforts helped the Cardinals down the Dallas Cowboys, 38-10.
Also excelling on offense was Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones. Returning from injury, the wideout caught eight passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. Jones' efforts played a big part the Falcons' 40-23 win over the Minnesota Vikings. Rounding out the offensive group was Bradley Bozeman of the Baltimore Ravens. Bozeman has blocked for a Ravens backfield that leads the league in rushing yards per attempt while ranking second in total rush yards and third in rushing yards per game.
On the defensive side of the ball, two former Alabama defensive backs helped lead their respective teams to victories. Minkah Fitzpatrick found the end zone after intercepting a pass and taking it 33 yards to the house for the Steelers. Fitzpatrick also added one tackle and a pass breakup in Pittsburgh's win over the Cleveland Browns. Former teammate and fellow DB Marlon Humphrey shined for the Ravens. Humphrey recorded eight tackles, including one sack and a tackle for loss. He also added a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup to his stat line.
A former Tide defensive lineman also excelled in week six. Da'Ron Payne recorded five tackles, including one tackle for loss, and also contributed a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup for the Washington Football Team. On special teams, JK Scott notched a commendable individual performance for the Green Bay Packers. Scott punted seven times for an average of 46.4 yards and landed two inside the 20 in the Packers' matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
