Top-3 Matchup in Tuscaloosa
This weekend, football welcomes in Georgia for a Saturday night, primetime matchup on CBS. We will also have our friends from ESPN's College GameDay in town, and they'll broadcast their weekly pregame show live. As many of you have likely already seen, the GameDay set, like many other things, looks a lot different this year with no fans, however we encourage you to join the virtual pit from your home.
Reminder for those of you with tickets, please be sure to take a look at our New in 2020 page to familiarize yourself with changes to the game day experience this season including mobile ticketing and parking, COVID-19 related self-assessment, personal protective equipment, gate number changes and concession operations.
Alexa Guarachi Makes Grand Slam Final and Finishes Runner-up in the French Open
We were so excited to follow women's tennis alum Alexa Guarachi this past week, who, along with her doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk, made it all the way to the final of the French Open, knocking off the No. 1 doubles team in the world along the way. Alexa and Desirae fell just short to the defending French Open champions in what was an amazing run at fabled Roland Garros Stadium in Paris. Already a two-time WTA doubles champion, Alexa has a bright future ahead of her.
Men's Golf Wins Blessings Collegiate Invitational
First tournament, first championship of the season for our men's golf team as they recently won the 2020 Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Four of our golfers, including Wilson Furr, Tyler Lipscomb, Thomas Ponder and Davis Shore, had top-20 individual finishes that helped the Tide capture its first outright season-opening title since the 2013-14 season.
Trey Mullinax Takes Top Honors at Orange County National Championship
Lots of celebratory milkshakes for men's golf coach Jay Seawell this week, a tradition of his, as former Tide golfer Trey Mullinax won the Orange County National Championship. He birdied holes 16 and 18 to win by a stroke at the Panther Lake course in Winter Garden, Florida.
Tennis Squads Have Fall Season Underway
Both our men's and women's tennis teams have gotten their fall seasons underway over the past two weeks. The men opened at the Tiger Fall Invitational in Auburn, Ala., the first weekend of October and were led by Ricardo Roberto who went three-for-three in his singles matches. The women got things going this past weekend when they hosted the SEC Challenge #1 here on campus and were led by freshman Anne Marie Hiser and sophomore Isabella Harvison, who both notched a pair of singles wins to open the 2020-21 season.
Volleyball Season set for October 21 Start

As a reminder, fan attendance for home matches at Foster Auditorium will be limited to coaches and players pass list only. Guests of the program attending are required to sit in previously identified, socially-distanced seats and face coverings are required unless eating or drinking.
School Supply Drive for Alberta Head Start a Big Success
As part of our Unity Project, Alabama Athletics delivered a wide variety of school supplies collected over the past several weeks to our community partner, Alberta Head Start, as well as contributing more than a $1,000 to buy even more supplies. We continue to work hard to make a difference for a community that shows the Crimson Tide so much support and to be impactful citizens in the world around us.
