Trio of Home Basketball Games on Deck
We've got a busy stretch here at Coleman Coliseum as we have three basketball games within the next six days on our home court. Coming off Sunday's 98-61 win over Vanderbilt, our women's team will face No. 25 Arkansas at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The men then welcome in the Razorbacks on Saturday for a 5 p.m. tip before hosting Tennessee on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Tickets are still available for all three games.
Spring Practice in Full Swing for Baseball and Softball
Both our baseball and softball teams have begun their spring practices with softball getting underway on January 12 and baseball on January 24. We are certainly looking forward to their regular-season schedules starting up next month, and I know several of you are too!
Softball Gets First Look at New Locker Room
What a special moment it was to see the looks on the faces of our softball team members when they got their first look at the new locker room at Rhoads Stadium. A big thank you to all of our donors who helped make that moment possible!
Baseball Fan Day set for February 8
Join us Saturday, February 8 for our baseball team's 2020 Fan Day. The day-long event will feature a youth clinic, autographs, the Grand Slammers barbeque and an intrasquad scrimmage. This is a great opportunity to come out, meet the team and get a preseason preview!
Power of Pink is Coming to Coleman Coliseum
Next week, both the gymnastics and women's basketball teams will be hosting Power of Pink events in Coleman Coliseum. Our Power of Pink initiative was started by former gymnastics coach Sarah Patterson in 2005 to bring awareness to the fight against breast cancer. The gymnastics team's pink meet is Friday, February 7 at 5:45 p.m. against Missouri, while women's basketball takes on Auburn on Sunday, February 9 at 2 p.m. As Sarah often says, we hope everyone will join us in supporting this vital cause and, "Think pink, wear pink and Roll Tide."
CSCAA Scholar All-America Team
As they gear up for the Southeastern Conference Championships, coming in February, both our men's and women's swimming and diving teams earned College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America's Scholar All-America Team recognition for the Fall 2019. The Tide women posted a 3.52 team grade point average in the fall, while the men earned a 3.49. On the men's side of the slate, Alabama and Harvard were the only two schools to finish in the top-15 both at the 2019 NCAA Championships and by team GPA this fall.
Individual GPAs
The good news continues from the fall semester when it comes to the classroom. In addition to having 14 teams post a 3.2 or better team grade point average, we also had over 375 student-athletes earn a 3.0 or better GPA last semester. That tally includes 253 with a 3.5 or better GPA and an astonishing 98 who posted a 4.0 in the fall. All in all, it was another great academic showing for the Crimson Tide, and we are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that goes into producing grades like these.
National Girls & Women in Sports Day
Wednesday, February 5 marks the 34th annual National Girls & Women in Sports Day, which is devoted to recognizing the progress of girls and women in sports, and the benefits that sports and fitness activities can bring to the lives of all girls and women. The Crimson Tide will be highlighting #NGWSD starting this Saturday on our various sport social media accounts as well as the Crimson Tide Foundation (@UACTF) accounts. We are excited and proud of all the success that all our women's teams have achieved over the years and the bright future that awaits our female student-athletes.

Football TIDE PRIDE Renewals Due Monday
With football TIDE PRIDE renewals due Monday, February 3, I wanted to remind you that you can earn Tide Totals priority points while supporting the education of our student-athletes. The Crimson Tide Scholarship Fund (CTSF) is the annual scholarship fund for Alabama Athletics. Donations to the CTSF enable deserving student-athletes to compete for the Crimson Tide while earning a degree from The University of Alabama, and contributions to the CTSF earn three Tide Totals priority points for every $100 donated. To learn more about the CTSF and to donate, visit crimsontidefoundation.org/ctsf.
University Spotlight
In case you missed it, The University of Alabama was recently recognized as one of America's Best Employers for Diversity by Forbes magazine. UA is the second-highest ranked employer in the state and only institution of higher learning in Alabama to receive the honor.
