The Tide Looks to Get Back on Track on the Road Against Auburn

Alabama and Auburn will tip off at 2 p.m. CT on Sunday inside Auburn Arena
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will look to get back on track when it hits the road to take on Auburn on Sunday at 2 p.m. inside Auburn Arena. The Crimson Tide (10-6, 0-3 SEC) has dropped its first three conference games will losses to tough SEC foes in (RV) LSU, (No. 4) South Carolina and (No. 14) Kentucky. The Tigers (6-8, 0-3 SEC) are also looking for its first win of 2020.
The matchup on Sunday is the 91st between the two rivals. Last season, Auburn won all three games against the Crimson Tide including dominating UA in Auburn Arena, 77-38 on Feb. 17, 2019. In their last meeting, Alabama narrowly fell to the Tigers 53-52 in the second round of the SEC Tournament on March 7, 2019 in Greenville, S.C. The last win for the Tide in Auburn Arena came on Feb. 20, 2017 after UA came away with the 63-61 overtime victory.

• Redshirt junior Jordan Lewis has scored in double figures in six straight games for an average of 15 points per game, while shooting an efficient 46 percent (29-of-63) from the floor. For the season, she leads the team in points (13.3), assists (3.5) and is second in 3-point percentage (39.1). In addition, Lewis is just 27 points away from 1,000 for her career and just nine assists away from taking over the No. 8 spot in career assists at Alabama.
• The Tide has been led in SEC play by Lewis who is putting up 15 points, five rebounds and five assists per game in conference play. Junior Jasmine Walker is also playing her best in 2020 after averaging 14.7 points and 7.3 rebounds, including coming in red-hot from beyond the arc after going 8-of-17 (47.1 percent) through three SEC games.
• The Alabama bench has outscored its opponents, 517-282 (32.3 avg. - 17.6 avg), in 16 games this season. The Tide reserves leads the SEC in total bench points and bench points per game. The reserves have accounted for 44 percent of the Tide's scoring, with its third and fourth scorers in senior Cierra Johnson (9.1) and sophomore De'Sha Benjamin (8.1) leading the bench.
• Seven different Alabama players average seven points or more. Lewis is tops on the team (13.3), while Walker is second with 10.8 points. Others include Johnson (9.1), Benjamin (8.1), junior Ariyah Copeland (7.9), sophomore Megan Abrams (7.4) and sophomore Brittany Davis (7.0).
• Alabama enters Sunday's game as one of the best teams in the country at getting to the free throw line. The Crimson Tide is No. 10 in the country in free throw attempts (343) and No. 7 (241). UA is knocking down its attempts at a 70.3 percent clip which is good enough for fourth in the SEC.
About Auburn
• Auburn has struggled this season, only going 6-5 in non-conference play, before dropping all three of its conference games by 15-plus points.
• The Tigers are led by junior Unique Thompson who has turned in a double-double in 13 of AU's 14 games. Thompson currently averages 17 points and 12.9 rebounds per game. Daisa Alexander is putting up 13.9 points, despite missing the last game vs. Florida on Jan. 9 due to an ankle injury. In addition, Brooke Moore averages 12.5 points per contest.
• Head Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy is in her eighth season as the coach at Auburn. She has a 130-109 record in her time with the Tigers and a 273-213 career record as a head coach. Last season, Williams-Flournoy led the Tigers to an NCAA Tournament appearance as a No. 10 seed.
