Alabama Women's Golf Opens 2019-20 Season at ANNIKA Intercollegiate

Crimson Tide set to defend ANNIKA Intercollegiate title starting Monday
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team opens the fall portion of its 2018-19 schedule at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Sept. 16-18, at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. for the second consecutive season. The Crimson Tide won last year's tournament with a 28-under par performance (284-275-277/836).
The Crimson Tide will get underway at 8:35 a.m. CT on Monday and will face a field that includes 11 nationally-ranked teams according to the Women's Golf Coaches Association Preseason Rankings, including Southern California (No. 1), Duke (No. 2), Texas (No. 3), UCLA (No. 6), Wake Forest (No. 9) Arizona State (No. 10), Arizona (No. 12), South Carolina (No. 14), Arkansas (No. 18), Virginia (No. 22) and Alabama (No. 24). Minnesota rounds out the 12-team field.
Teams will play a total of 54 holes, 18 each on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on the par-72, 6,410-yard course.

Alabama Line-up
- Senior Kenzie Wright - became the fourth Alabama player to make it to the U.S. Women's Amateur Quarterfinals in the last three years
- Junior Polly Mack - transferred from UNLV, where she was a two-time Mountain West All-Conference First Team Honoree
- Junior Angelica Moresco - competed as an individual at the 2019 NCAA Championships
- Freshmen Caroline Curtis – two-time AJGA Champion will make her collegiate debut Monday
- Freshmen Emilie Øverås – joins the Crimson Tide from Alesund, Norway, where she was a three-time Norges Cup winner
Tournament Notes
- A year ago, the Crimson Tide opened the 2018-19 season with a victory at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Alabama shot 11-under par on the back nine on the final day of play to finish the tournament at 28-under par (284-275-277/836).
- Last season, in her Alabama debut Kenzie Wright (67-67-78/212) tied the then-school 36-hole record, with a two-round total of 134 to finish 13th.

The ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M is a college golf tournament co-founded by the ANNIKA Foundation and Golfweek. The 54-hole stroke play event is played at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. and features 12 of the top Division I women's programs in the country. This event allows Annika to stay connected with the players through all facets of competitive golf. In addition, a gala reception takes place before the event during which Annika presents the ANNIKA Award presented by Stifel to the nation's best female player in college golf.
