Crimson Tide Rolls to 104-74 Victory Over British Columbia in Second Game of Canadian Tour

Alabama was led by newcomer Brittany Davis who finished with 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting
VANCOUVER, British Columbia – For the second consecutive game, the Alabama women's basketball team scored in triple digits after posting a 104-74 win over the University of British Columbia on Tuesday night at War Memorial Gymnasium in the second game of the 2019 Canadian Foreign Tour.
Highlights
- The Crimson Tide started out slow and trailed 27-20 after the first 10 minutes of action.
- Alabama responded in the second period by outscoring the Thunderbirds 32-12, spurred on by sophomore transfer Brittany Davis who had 19 points off the bench on 7-of-7 shooting from the floor in the first half.
- The lead was 52-39 at the halftime break, after UA outscored UBC 17-0 in the final five minutes of the period.
- After British Columbia cut the lead to 62-55 in the third, the Tide finished the quarter strong once again when it went on a 15-7 run that ended with redshirt junior Shelby Gibson dropping in buzzer-beating put back to make it 77-62 heading into the final 10 minutes of play.
- The Thunderbirds scored the first two points of the fourth, before Alabama answered back with a 10-0 run over a two-minute span to push the lead to 23. The Tide led by as many as 32 in the fourth quarter on its way to the scoring exactly 104 points for the second-straight game.
Player Spotlight
- Davis finished the game with 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor, while knocking down three shots from beyond the arc and grabbing a team-high eight rebounds. Davis is new to this year's squad after transferring from junior college. The Manchester, Ga., native had 10 points in the team's first contest against VK Select.
- Senior Cierra Johnson bounced back nicely after struggling in the first game of the tour. The Mobile native, finished with 16 points on an efficient 5-of-7 from the field and a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line.
Stats of the Game
- Alabama shot 51 percent (43-of-84) from the field, while hitting nine three-pointers in the contest.
- The Tide bench outscored British Columbia 66-13, with Davis' 25 leading the way.
- The Crimson Tide had 20 steals and won the turnover battle, 26-12. Alabama scored 40 points off of UBC turnovers.
- For the second game in a row, UA had 11 players score.
