TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Soccer Team will host South Alabama in its second and final exhibition match on Saturday night at 6 p.m. CT at the Alabama Soccer Stadium.
Saturday's match will be the 11th meeting in history between the two squads, although the game will not be recorded in the books. Alabama leads the all-time series 9-1 with the last meeting ending in a 5-1 victory by the Tide on Sept. 6, 2018. Alabama has not lost a match to the Jaguars since 1995.
The South Alabama Jaguars went 8-9-2 in 2018, with a 5-4-1 conference record. The Jaguars' season came to a close when they fell 2-4 in penalty kicks after a 1-1 tie against Texas State in the semifinals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. This will be their second exhibition match as well, losing 0-3 to Lipscomb last Sunday.
The Tide is coming off a 3-0 shutout win against UCF in its first friendly of the 2019 season. Alabama's three goals came from sophomore Riley Mattingly, freshman Carly Wyatt, and junior Casey Wertz.
After Alabama's match with South Alabama, the Crimson Tide will kick off the 2019 regular season on Thursday, Aug. 22, against BYU. The game will begin at 7 p.m. CT at the Alabama Sports Stadium. Admission is free to all home games.
