Alabama Track & Field Among National Leaders in Coaches Association Academic Honors

The Crimson Tide women posted a 3.45 cumulative team grade point average while the men tallied a 3.27
NEW ORLEANS – The Alabama men's and women's team both earned All-Academic Team honors during the 2019 season the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced on Monday. The Crimson Tide men and women have combined to earn the team honor 20 times since 2003.
"This was a really good year for us both in the classroom and on the track," UA head coach Dan Waters said. "We're very proud of what we were able to accomplish and the dedication and effort our student-athletes put into the ongoing pursuit of excellence."
The women's team earned the honor with a 3.45 cumulative team grade point average, while the men garnered the honor with a 3.27 team GPA.
The Crimson Tide women had the highest team GPA of any school that finished in the top 10 at both the NCAA indoor or outdoor championships and was second only to Stanford among women's teams that finished in the top-10 either indoors or outdoors.
Alabama's men had the third-highest team GPA of the schools that finished in the top-10 at either the NCAA indoor or outdoor championships and was second only to Stanford among men's teams that finished in the top-10 in both indoors and outdoors.
The Tide had the highest GPA among Southeastern Conference men's squads and the second-highest among women's programs.
Individually, the Tide totaled 13 on the 2019 USTFCCCA All-Academic list including Rebecca Buteau, Tamara Clark, Nickolette Dunbar, Nicole Gardner, Daija Lampkin, Haley Teel and Samantha Zelden for the women along with Bobby Colantonio Jr., Ashton Domingue, Vincent Kiprop, Ryan Lipe, Kwemoi Ndiwa and Jake Spotswood from the men's team.
A total of seven members of the Tide's 2019 roster earned both All-Academic and All-America honors this season, including Clark, Colantonio Jr., Dunbar, Lampkin, Kiprop, Teel and Zelden
