Crimson Tide boasts an all-region honoree for the ninth consecutive season
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Alabama sophomore Wilson Furr was named to the PING All-Region team, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced during the NCAA Men's Golf Championships. It marks the ninth straight season and the 11th time in the last 12 years that the Crimson Tide has had a golfer earn the recognition.
Furr was the only golfer on this year's Crimson Tide squad to compete in all 12 tournaments on the season. He led the team with a 72.35 per round stroke average and an average vs. par of +1.06, while also topping Alabama in top-10 finishes (3) and rounds of par or lower (16) on the season.
A native of Jackson, Miss., Furr claimed his first career collegiate medalist honor – and the team's only individual victory of the 2018-19 campaign – when he captured a dominant win at the inaugural Shoal Creek Invitational, hosted by Auburn University. He finished the two-day, 54-hole event with a season-low total of 7-under par 209 (72-68-69) which included two of his team-leading 10 rounds in the 60s on the year.
Of the 26 players named to this year's Southeast All-Region squad, 21 of them hail from the Southeastern Conference.
