Sophomore Angelica Moresco will resume second round action Sunday at 10 a.m. CT
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sophomore Angelica Moresco's second round of the 2019 NCAA Women's Golf Championships was cut three holes short Saturday morning, after severe storms forced suspension of play at the Blessings Golf Club.
Moresco was in the midst of a three-stroke improvement from Friday's opening round, standing at 3-over through 15 holes, when action was halted by approaching storms that required NCAA officials to pull players off the course at 12:15 p.m. When competition resumes Sunday morning, Moresco along with 18 teams and 12 more individuals must finish the second round.
Starting her day off No. 10 on the challenging par 73, 6,473-yard layout, Moresco opened with a birdie before making back-to-back bogeys. The Caldogno, Italy, native drained three more birdies before giving three bogeys back in the stiff winds. Moresco began her second nine with a run of four straight pars, then finished with a pair of bogeys in the tough conditions.
The NCAA Championships consists of all 24 teams and 12 individuals completing 54 holes of stroke play. The top 15 teams along with the top nine individuals not on an advancing team will advance for one additional day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams then compete in match play for the championship.
Sunday morning, Moresco will continue to compete in a group with Michigan State's Allyson Geer-Park and Oregon's Kathleen Scavo. The trio will resume second round play at 10 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available at golfstat.com.
