Shorthanded Alabama Men’s Golf in 13th Place After 36 Holes of Querencia Cabo Collegiate

The 14th-ranked Crimson Tide forced to finish the day with just four golfers after an injury sidelines Davis Shore
SAN JOSE DEL CABO, Mexico – The 14th-ranked Alabama men's golf team was forced to play a man down during the second round of the 2019 Querencia Cabo Collegiate on Monday and finished the day in 13th place with a 36-hole team total of 604 (301-303).
Sophomore Davis Shore, who came into this week's tournament tied for the team lead in stroke average and average vs. par, had to withdraw from the second round with an injury that forced the Crimson Tide to finish the day with four golfers.
Freshman Prescott Butler leads the team after an even par 71 – his sixth round of par or better this season. The Old Westbury, N.Y., native will enter the tournament's final round in a tie for 32nd overall with a 2-over par 144 (73-71). Sophomore Wilson Furr, who was the Tide's top performer during Sunday's opening 18 holes, is in a tie for 47th overall with a two-day total of 7-over 149 (72-77).
Freshman Frankie Capan III (82-76/158) and sophomore Jake DeZoort (80-79/159) rounds out the Crimson Tide golfers in 66th and 68th position, respectively.
Top-ranked Oklahoma State finished the day with a team score of 22-under par 546 to move into first place in the team standings after 36 holes. The Cowboys own a 9-stroke advantage over No. 36 Baylor (555) and a 10-stroke lead over No. 9 Arizona State (556). The trio are the only teams in the 13-team field below par. Arizona (569) is in third, while No. 27 Florida State (571) and No. 3 Vanderbilt (572) round out the top five teams.
The event, which is co-hosted by the University of Houston and University of Arkansas, features 11 teams ranked among the top 50 in the nation, according to the latest Golfstat.com national rankings.
The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. CT on Monday. The Tide will be paired alongside Texas A&M, Rice and Florida State.
