
Alabama Women’s Golf Set to Compete at Auburn for Evans Derby Experience

The Crimson Tide tees off the three-day, 54-hole event on Saturday morning
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The No. 18 Alabama women's golf team will be back in action this weekend when it competes at the 2019 Evans Derby Experience. The three-day, 54-hole event, hosted by Auburn, will tee off on Saturday morning on the par-72, 6,250-yard Saugahatchee Country Club in Opelika, Ala.
The tournament features one of the top fields in the nation that features every squad in the 14-team field ranked among the top 50 teams in the nation, according to Golfstat.com. Nine teams, including the Crimson Tide, are ranked among the top 20 nationally entering this weekend's play.
In addition to Alabama, other ranked teams include: No. 2 Texas, No. 3 Duke, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Arkansas, No. 9 South Carolina, No. 11 Florida State, No. 13 Auburn, No. 14 Kent State, No. 22 Clemson No. 30 Louisville, No. 38 Baylor, No. 42 Ole Miss and No. 44 Mississippi State.
The Crimson Tide's lineup will feature a new face as junior Anna Reid will make her Alabama debut in this weekend's event. Reid, playing in the No. 4 spot, was a two-time all-conference performer at Faulkner University, where she ranked among the top NAIA golfers in the nation.
Sophomore Angelica Moresco, playing in the top spot for the Tide, is coming off a runner-up finish in UA's previous tournament, the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Caldogno, Italy, native owns a 72.19 per round stroke average and is ranked No. 26 in the nation entering the tournament.
Junior Jiwon Jeon tops the team in stroke average (71.18) and average vs. par (-0.29) entering play this weekend. Jeon, who was recently selected to the International Team for the 2019 Arnold Palmer Cup, ranks No. 6 in the nation and owns a record of 90-53-9 against individuals ranked among the top 100 in the nation.
Kenzie Wright, a junior who is ranked 99th in the nation, is third on the team in both stroke average (72.94) and average vs. par (+1.47), and will be in the No. 3 slot for Alabama, while Reid and freshman Mary Mac Trammell round out the Tide's starting five. Additionally, freshman Carolina Caminoli will play this weekend as an individual.
The Crimson Tide will tee off the opening round of play on Saturday morning off Hole No. 1 at 9:20 a.m. CT. Alabama will be paired alongside Auburn and Louisville. Live scoring throughout the event can be found on Golfstat.com.
