Alabama Track and Field Posts a Dozen Top-10 Finishes at the Jaguar Opener

The Crimson Tide got the outdoor season underway with nine top-five finishes, including a win in the women’s 800 meters
MOBILE, Ala. – The Alabama men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2019 outdoor season with a dozen top-10 finishes, including a win in the women's 800 meters.
Freshman Savannah Noethlich opened her Crimson Tide outdoor career by winning the women's 800 meters, crossing the line with a time of 2:22.34, more than a half second ahead of the field.
Alabama took half the top-10 in the women's 1,500 meters, led by sophomore Brittany Tolson, who took second in a time of 4:58.18, followed by junior Caroline Brooks who was fourth after clocking a 4:46.69.
Former Crimson Tide All-American Alexis Paine won the women's pole vault with a jump of 12-11.50 (3.95m), followed by a trio of current Alabama jumpers. Sophomore Taylor Pickett was the top collegian with a 12-5.50 (3.80m), while freshman Riley White and sophomore Abigail Dickinson were the next collegians, with clearances of 11-11.75 (3.65m).
Freshman Eliza Witherspoon closed the individual events for the Tide women, posting a 10:32.79 in the 3,000 meters.
Junior Henry Barrett was second in the men's pole vault after clearing 16-2.75 (4.95m). In the men's 1,500 meters, sophomore Paul Selden took fifth after going 4:09.18.
