
No. 24 Alabama Men’s Golf Returns to Action at Linger Longer Invitational

Crimson Tide enters this weekend’s event having won the tournament team title five of last eight years
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama men's golf team returns to tournament action this weekend when it travels to Greensboro, Ga., to compete at the 2019 Linger Longer Invitational. The event will be held Friday through Sunday, March 15-17, on the par-72, 7,073-yard The Landing at Reynolds Lake Oconee course.
The Tide has won the tournament five times over the last eight years, including claiming the team title last season with a 24-under par 840. Former Alabama standout Lee Hodges captured individual medalist honors at 14-under par 202. The Crimson Tide has also won team titles in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016.
Alabama's lineup will not include sophomore Davis Shore, the team's leader in stroke average (72.35) and average vs. par (+1.12) who was forced to withdraw during the Tide's last tournament with the same injury that will keep him out this week. The team will be led by sophomore Wilson Furr, who ranks just behind Shore in both stroke average (72.42) and average vs. par (+1.21) entering this weekend's event. Freshmen Prescott Butler and Frankie Capan III will be joined by junior Josh Sedeno and sophomore Jake DeZoort to round out the starting five.
Alabama will enter the event ranked No. 24 in the nation by Golfstat.com and is one eight teams in the 14-team field that are ranked among the top-70 in the nation. In addition to the Crimson Tide, other ranked teams include No. 15 Georgia, No. 21 Liberty, No. 22 Tennessee, No. 25 Louisville, No. 53 Ohio State, No. 61 Virginia, No. 64 Kennesaw State and No. 68 Penn State. Other teams include Augusta, Charlotte, Mercer, South Alabama, Toledo and UNC Greensboro.
The tournament is slated to tee off of Holes No. 1 and 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET (7:30 a.m. CT).
