The Crimson Tide heads into Lexington, set for its sixth of eight-consecutive meets against SEC competition and its fourth road meet of the season
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The ninth-ranked Alabama gymnastics team heads to Lexington, Ky., to take on No. 13 Kentucky in Lexington, Ky., Friday at 7 p.m. ET in Memorial Coliseum.
"We put the ladies under a lot of pressure this week, going through a lot of pressure sets," UA head coach Dana Duckworth said. "We're also focused on all the little things that we can control, like fine-tuning the fingers, the toes, the straight knees, the handstands and the stuck landings."
The Tide comes into the weekend undefeated on the road this season, including SEC wins over Georgia, Missouri and Arkansas.
Alabama is coming off its best floor exercise performance of the season last week against Florida, posting a 49.450 paced by career-best marks of 9.95 for junior Shea Mahoney and sophomore Lexi Graber. Freshman Emily Gaskins also posted a career-best 9.875 on the floor against the Gators.
"I'd say our mindset coming into this meet is just very determined," Gaskins said. "We came into gym this week and we were all ready to go, fired up on every event. We want to go out there and show what we've been doing in training every day."
Graber also leads the Tide on the vault after tying her career-best of 9.95 earlier in the season. Mahoney has the Tide's top score on the uneven bars, with a season-best of 9.95. On the balance beam, Graber and junior Wynter Childers lead the charge with matching 9.925s.
Following Friday's meet, Alabama closes out its regular-season home schedule with the Auburn Tigers on Friday, March 1 at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the Alabama Ticket Office (205.348.2262) located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum and online at RollTide.com.
