Alabama Men’s Tennis Readies for Blue Gray National Tennis Classic

The Crimson Tide will begin the Blue Gray Event against Fresno State at 12:30 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The No. 16 Alabama men's tennis team heads to Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the 71st playing of the prestigious Blue Gray National Tennis Classic on Feb. 22-23. The Crimson Tide will open competition against Fresno State at 12:30 p.m. CT at Lagoon Park.
After battling Fresno State, Alabama will begin a doubles match against Ole Miss or Princeton on Friday and resume singles play on Saturday. The Crimson Tide will wrap up the event Saturday against a final opponent to be determined.
Alabama (8-1) comes into the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the eight-team tournament, after moving up seven spots to No. 16 in the latest Oracle/ITA National Team Rankings. Individually, senior No. 32 Mazen Osama sports a 6-2 record as the Tide's top player, while junior Edson Ortiz is a perfect 8-0 in dual matches.
Fresno State (5-4) and Alabama will meet for the second time in program history Friday. The Tide owns a 1-0 series advantage over the Bulldogs, after the last meeting in 1998.
Teams participating in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic include: No. 16 Alabama, No. 38 Arizona, Auburn, Fresno State, No. 48 Ole Miss, Princeton, Rice, and No. 32 Texas Tech.
