
Alabama Makes Quick Trip to Auburn for Rivalry Matchup

The Crimson Tide will take on the Tigers on Sunday at 3 p.m. CT
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama will look to snap a three-game losing streak when it travels to Auburn on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. CT. This marks the second time this season the Crimson Tide (11-13, 3-8 SEC) and Tigers (18-7, 6-6 SEC) have met up, with AU taking the first meeting, 66-56, on Jan. 10 in Coleman Coliseum.
THE BROADCAST
• Sunday's game will be televised live on SEC Network. Roy Philpott (play-by-play) and Brooke Weisbrod (analyst) will be on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 100.1 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama will try to get back on track when it goes on the road to take on Auburn on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. CT at Auburn Arena. The meeting on Sunday is Auburn's Power of Pink/Play4Kay game.
• Last time out, the Crimson Tide (11-13, 3-8 SEC) lost to No. 17 Kentucky, 68-53 on Monday night inside Coleman Coliseum, while the Tigers (18-7, 6-6 SEC) fell on the road at Tennessee, 72-63 on Thursday, Feb. 14.
• This is the 89th meeting between the two schools with Auburn holding the 51-37 all-time advantage. The Tigers won the previous meeting earlier this season, 66-56, in Tuscaloosa. Alabama has gone 1-6 in its last seven trips to Auburn.
ABOUT AUBURN
• Auburn has lost two of its last three games with its last win coming on the road against Arkansas, 75-72, on Feb. 10 in Fayetteville, Ark.
• The Tigers have four players that average double figures, including Unique Thompson who averages a double-double with 12.9 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Janiah McKay leads the team with 14.2 points per contest, while Daisa Alexander puts in 12.4 points and Crystal Primm averages 11.1 points per game.
• Auburn ranks first in the conference in steals per game with 12.6 per contest, while also coming in at second in SEC in turnover margin (+7.67) and turnovers forced (21.2).
NEWS AND NOTES
• Freshman Megan Abrams has been stepping up her play over the last two games, putting up 13.5 points per game. Abrams who has struggled shooting in her first year with the Tide is shooting 47.8 percent (11-of-23) combined in the games against Florida and No. 17 Kentucky. She is also seeing an increase in minutes, averaging 32 per game over the previous three contests.
• Junior Cierra Johnson is first on the team with 14.1 points per game and in total assists with 70 through 24 games. Johnson is also the top-rebounding guard on the squad and third on the team with 4.5 per contest. The junior has twice as many free throw attempts (122) and makes (90) than any other player on the team. At the beginning of SEC play, Johnson moved from shooting guard to starting at the point guard position with the injury to Jordan Lewis. Over those 11 contests, Johnson is averaging 14.9 points (T-11th in SEC), five rebounds and 3.2 assists.
• Sophomore Jasmine Walker has made great improvements this season with the Tide. The Montgomery, Ala. native, is currently the second leading scorer among active members on the team and is the leading rebounder with 13.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with five double-doubles this season and has seven games in which she has registered double-digit rebounds. At 38.2 percent from the three-point line, Walker is also first on the team in percentage and first in three-pointers made (42). Her 13.2 points ranks 20th in the league, while her 7.6 rebounds per contest ranks 10th in the SEC. In 11 conference games Walker has been on fire from beyond the arc, knocking down 25-of-58 (43.1 percent) from three-point land, which is fourth in the conference.
• Getting off to a hot start has been key for the Tide this season, when leading at half UA is 10-1, while when trailing, 1-12.
