Alabama Uses Big Second Half to Earn Fourth-Straight Victory Against Radford, 85-51

Junior Jasmine Walker led the 11 different Crimson Tide players who scored with 14 points in the 34-point win
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Junior Jasmine Walker finished just one rebound shy of a double-double, scoring 14 points with nine boards in Alabama's blowout win 85-51, against Radford. The Crimson Tide (9-3) led 31-30 heading into halftime but outscored the Highlanders (2-7) 54-21 in the second half to pull away for its fourth straight home victory.
Walker led the balanced scoring attack for the Tide with her team-high 14 points, while redshirt junior Jordan Lewis added 12 points and four assists. Senior Cierra Johnson and sophomore Brittany Davis each contributed 11 points and senior Ashley Knight grabbed eight boards and scored 10 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting. 11 different Crimson Tide players scored, including the five in double figures.

From Coach Curry
- "I thought we came out in the third quarter playing a lot better defensively and a lot smarter," said head coach Kristy Curry. "We had more energy on and away from the ball. I thought our kids came out with more effort. Our defense kind of became our offense and we were able to get some stops and add that to our offense. We had great balance today with five in double figures and we dominated the glass. I thought we really improved after the second half and showed how we respond to adversity."
Quarter-By-Quarter
- The Tide got off to a fast start Tuesday night, leading 21-12 after the first 10 minutes of action, while shooting 57 percent (8-of-14) in the period. Eight different players scored in the quarter for Alabama.
- Radford answered back, outscoring UA 18-10 in the second quarter. Lewis picked off a Radford pass and converted the layup at the buzzer to give Alabama the 31-30 lead at the half.
- In the third quarter, UA found its rhythm, finishing the last five minutes on a 12-4 run to extend the lead to 55-41.
- The Tide continued to build on its lead in the fourth, outscoring RU 30-10 in the final ten minutes of play. Alabama cruised to the, 85-51 victory.
Player Spotlight
- Walker had a hot hand, shooting 6-of-8 (75 percent) from the floor, while knocking down two of her three attempts from beyond the arc.
- In her second consecutive start, Knight had a team-high plus/minus of 26 while blocking two shots and grabbing two steals in addition to her 10 points and eight rebounds. In those two starts, Knight is averaging nine points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks.

Stats of the Game
- The Tide was on fire shooting, going 32-of-54 (59 percent) from the floor while holding Radford to 38 percent (20-of-52). In the second half, Alabama shot an unheard-of 80 percent (20-of-25) from the floor.
- Alabama dominated the glass, grabbing 38 rebounds and scoring 38 points in the paint, while only giving up 20 rebounds and 24 points in the paint to the Highlanders.
- UA's bench continued its run of contribution, outscoring RU's bench 41-20.
