Alabama Swimming and Diving Continues to Grab Wins and Break Records at Georgia Tech Invitational

The Crimson Tide women break four school records on the day, including two individual marks and two relays
ATLANTA, Ga. – The Alabama swimming and diving teams continued to reel in wins and break records on day two of the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday.
Rhyan White continued a huge meet, winning two events and breaking three school records on the day. In prelims, the sophomore broke the school 100 butterfly mark, going 52.11 before becoming the first UA woman under 52 seconds in the event in finals going 51.71 to take the win. She also bettered her own school record in the 100 backstroke for the third time in two days to win the race with a 51.12, bettering the mark she set in prelims (51.44) after first lowering it on Friday (51.93) to lead off the Tide's 400 medley relay. To start off finals, she led off the Tide's record-breaking 200 medley relay, combining with juniors Kaila Wong and Flora Molnar and senior Allie Surrency in going 1:36.50, bettering the previous standard set in 2018.
The Tide women closed the night with another school record when senior Alexis Preski, sophomore Kensey McMahon, sophomore Morgan Scott and junior Flora Molnar went 7:08.69, bettering the previous mark set in 2016.
The Tide men also picked up a win, opening finals by winning the 200 medley relay. Seniors Zane Waddell and Kyle Maas combined with junior Tyler Sesvold and sophomore Jonathan Berneburg to stop the clock with a 1:24.43, bettering the field by more than three tenths of a second.

- Molnar also went under 52 seconds in the finals of the 100 butterfly, going 51.80 to take second place in the meet and rank second all-time at Alabama.
- Waddell stopped the clock with a season-best 45.65 to take second in the 100 backstroke.
- Sophomore Nicholas Perera took second in the 400 individual medley with a season-best 4:50.39.
- Sesvold posted a career-best 46.63 in the finals of the 100 butterfly to take third place.
- Freshman Liam Bell touched the wall in a season-best 53.53 in the 100 breaststroke, which ranks him fifth all-time at Alabama in just his third meet for the crimson and white.
- Preski posted a career-best 4:10.99 in the finals of the 400 individual medley to move up to fourth all-time for the Tide.
- Preski led off the school-record 800 freestyle relay with a career-best 1:47.03, ranking her fourth all-time at UA in the 200 freestyle.
Coming Up Sunday
- Prelims will get underway at 9 a.m. CT on Sunday, while finals are slated for a 4:30 p.m. start.
- Sunday's events will include the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay as well as the men's and women's platform diving events.
