Alabama Swimming and Diving’s Rhyan White Closes Huge Weekend with Two More School Records

The sophomore destroyed the Alabama 200 backstroke and butterfly records to notch four individual school marks on the weekend
ATLANTA, Ga. – Alabama swimming and diving sophomore Rhyan White broke two more school records and picked up another win on the final day of the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga., on Sunday, giving her four UA records over the weekend.
After breaking the school mark of the 200 backstroke in Sunday's prelims with a 1:52.14, White dropped it more than two seconds in finals, posting a 1:50.00 to take the win and the nation's top time. In prelims, she shattered another team record, going 1:55.78 in the 200 butterfly, bettering the previous mark set in 2010 by more than a second.
Flora Molnar also broke a school record on the way to picking up a win. The junior posted a school-record 48.15 in the prelims of the 100 freestyle, before becoming the first UA woman under 48 seconds in finals, going 47.98 to earn the win.
Freshman diver Tanesha Lucoe notched another Tide win, taking top honors off the platform with 254.70 points, six ahead of the rest of the field.
The Crimson Tide closed out the meet with a school record in the 400 freestyle relay, with sophomores Morgan Scott and Julia Wolf combining with Molnar and senior Allie Surrency to go 3:14.26.

- While she didn't swim the finals of the 200 butterfly, White posted the fastest time of the meet with her prelims swim.
- In addition to Molnar's 100 freestyle win and school record, Surrency and Wolf took fourth and fifth and posted times under 49 seconds, going 48.90 and 48.98, respectively. In all, seven UA women broke 50 seconds in this meet. Prior to this weekend only 10 women in Alabama history had broken 50.
- Sophomore Kensey McMahon took second in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 16:03.38.
- Senior Zane Waddell took second in the 100 freestyle with a season-best 42.79.
- In addition to White's UA record in the 200 butterfly, both senior Alexis Preski (1:57.46) and sophomore Morgan Liberto (1:57.90) posted career-best time to rank second and fourth all-time for the Tide.
- Waddell, junior Tyler Sesvold, sophomore Jonathan Berneburg and freshman Liam Bell clocked a 2:53.97 to take third in the 400 freestyle relay and close out the meet.
