Senior Alba Cortina Pou and junior Moka Ito will start singles play on Saturday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Senior Alba Cortina Pou and junior Moka Ito are set to compete in the pre-qualifying draws at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the University of Tulsa campus and Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park in Tulsa, Okla. Play will get underway at 8 a.m. CT on Saturday
Tournament Info
- Cortina Pou has a first round matchup against Julia Adams of Furman at 9 a.m., while Ito will take on Alisha Reayer of Memphis at 10 a.m.
- The tournament begins with men's and women's singles pre-qualifying draws on Oct. 5 and 6 before advancing to qualifying play (Oct. 7-8). The main draw opens Oct. 9 and concludes with the singles and doubles finals on Oct. 13.
- The pre-qualifying draw consists of 96 players from various schools across the country.
Player Info
- Ito went 2-1 in the Rice Invitational last weekend in singles play with two wins over nationally ranked opponents. The Fukushima, Japan, native also defeated the No. 11 doubles pair in the nation with freshmen Isabella Harvison. Ito had one total ranked win in singles and doubles all of last year.
- Cortina Pou her first win and ranked win of the season at the Rice Invitational on Sept. 28.
