TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team used a complete team effort that saw every Crimson Tide player who entered the game score at least one basket in its 105-16 exhibition win over Auburn-Montgomery on Sunday afternoon in Coleman Coliseum.
The Crimson Tide was led by sophomore Brittany Davis' 19 points, while senior Cierra Johnson also added 10 points in the win. Eight other UA players contributed at least five points. Alabama scored 41 straight points from the middle of the second quarter into the third quarter before allowing the Warhawks a basket.
From Coach Curry
- "It was good today to see a different colored jersey," head coach Kristy Curry. "Obviously, it's hard when you're going against yourself in practice day-after-day. As far as getting a lot of people minutes, I thought that was quality. To shoot 18-for-18 from the free throw line regardless of the situation is always a positive. We took some positives away; we'll take some clips away too that we need to continue to grow and improve. Overall it was just really good to be in a real game environment."
Quarter-by-Quarter
- Alabama jumped off to a hot start, going on a 13-2 scoring run with 5:48 left in the first period. UA never looked back as it led for the entire game. The Tide finished the first leading 28-8, while knocking down three shots from beyond the arc.
- UA dominated the second period, holding AUM to just three second period points. The Tide expanded its advantage, taking a 57-11 lead into the half.
- The scoring run continued into the third, in the midst of its 41-0 run, the Warhawks hit a three-pointer. Alabama ended the third period with an 80-16 lead.
- Alabama's defense smothered Auburn-Montgomery in the fourth period, holding them to zero points. The Tide scored 25 in the fourth on its way to the 105-16 victory.
