TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Junior Ariyah Copeland's layup with seven seconds remaining in the game tied it up at 61-61, however, a three-point basket at the buzzer lifted Hampton past Alabama 64-61, inside Coleman Coliseum on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Crimson Tide begins its season 0-1, while Lady Pirates starts their 2019-20 campaign 1-0.

From Coach Curry
"Credit to Hampton, they made a good shot right there at the end," said head coach Kristy Curry. "It just seemed like we could not find the basket. You can't shoot 27 percent from the floor and win. I thought we had good effort to outrebound them like we did, but again, you have to have enough toughness to make shots and for whatever reason we were just really cold tonight."
