Women’s Basketball Gets Back in Action on the Road at Clemson on Tuesday Night

The Crimson Tide will look to bounce back against the Tigers
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team will look to get back on track when it travels to Clemson, S.C. to take on the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. CT inside Littlejohn Coliseum. The Crimson Tide enters the game with an 0-1 record, while the Tigers are 1-1 early in their 2019-20 season.
This is the sixth meeting between the two schools, with Alabama holding the 3-2 all-time advantage. The two teams met last year on Nov. 19 in Coleman Coliseum with the Tide trouncing the Tigers, 76-56. UA and CU have only played one time in Clemson, S.C. when the teams matched up on Dec. 19, 1992, with Bama coming out victorious, 85-79.

Opening Tip
• The Tide and Tigers are both looking to bounce back after suffering losses in each of their last games.
• The Crimson Tide is led by redshirt junior Jordan Lewis who was tops on the team in the season opener against Hampton with 14 points, while sophomore Brittany Davis contributed 13 points off the bench and junior Ariyah Copeland added a double-double on Wednesday.
• After only playing eight games last year due to a season-ending wrist injury in December, Lewis made a splash in her season debut, putting up a team-high 14 points, 6 assists and two steals, while also hauling in seven rebounds. She is currently No. 9 all-time in assists at Alabama and in the top 15 among the SEC active career leaders in several categories, including points (No. 10), rebounds (No. 15), steals (No. 5) and assists (No. 2).
• Copeland started the season with her sixth career double-double, three of which coming in the month of November. The Columbus, Ga., native totaled 11 points and 11 rebounds in the opener against Hampton. The double-double tied her the for the most on the team with junior Jasmine Walker.
About Clemson
• Clemson is 1-1 this season after a season-opening 77-71 win over Furman on Wednesday, Nov. 6 and the Tigers fell at home to Navy, 65-52, on Saturday, Nov. 9.
• The Tigers return five players from its 2018-19 NCAA Tournament team, including senior forward Kobi Thornton. Thornton leads the team with 16.5 points in her first two contests of the season.
• Head Coach Amanda Butler is entering her second season at the helm. In her first year, Butler led the Tigers to their first NCAA appearance since 2002. CU won its first-round matchup against South Dakota before falling in the second round against No. 1 seed Mississippi State.

The Difference a Year Makes
• The 2019-20 Alabama roster returns 11 players from last year's team, which is tied for first with Kentucky for the most in the SEC. Last year, the Tide was the 11th-youngest team in the nation entering the 2018-19 season.
• UA has four of five starters returning, along with Lewis, Shelby Gibson and Amber Richardson who redshirted a season ago. The Tide also returns 84.4 percent of its scoring from last year.
• Alabama has nine of its top 10 scorers coming back from last season including four of five starters, which includes senior Cierra Johnson, sophomore Megan Abrams, Walker and Copeland.
