Alabama Volleyball Falls to 16th-Ranked Kentucky Sunday in Tuscaloosa

The Crimson Tide faces its second-straight ranked foe Saturday in No. 13 Florida
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama dropped its Sunday contest in three sets against No. 13 Kentucky in Foster Auditorium.
Alabama (11-7, 3-4 SEC) dropped the opening set to Kentucky (13-5, 6-1 SEC), 25-7, but fought a closer second set, tying the score four times but ultimately falling 25-17. The Wildcats won the third 25-7 to complete the sweep.

- Set One (Kentucky 25, Alabama 7): Alabama scored the first point of the frame but Kentucky responded with six in a row before the Tide took a timeout. Later ahead 11-4, the Wildcats scored three to take a double-digit lead as Alabama spent its final timeout. The Tide would only score three more points in the remainder of the set as Kentucky held on to win, 25-7.
- Set Two (Kentucky 25, Alabama 17): Alabama held steady with Kentucky early in set two, tying the score four times before a 3-0 run gave the Wildcats some cushion at the media timeout, 15-11. Later trailing 18-13, the Tide scored three unanswered to draw within two but the Wildcats answered with back-to-back points to pull ahead 20-16 as Alabama took a timeout. Kentucky closed out the frame with a 5-1 run to win, 25-17.
- Set Three (Kentucky 25, Alabama 7): The Tide was forced to spend an early timeout after the Wildcats built a 5-1 lead and took its second with Kentucky leading 15-4. The Wildcats maintained its momentum, closing the set with a 10-3 run to win, 25-7, and complete the sweep.

Alabama travels for a pair of road matches next weekend, starting Friday, Oct. 25 against 13th-ranked Florida (14-3, 5-1 SEC) in Gainesville, Fla., before heading to Columbia, S.C., to face South Carolina (11-8, 3-4 SEC) on Sunday, Oct. 27.
