Alabama Soccer to Face Ole Miss in Mississippi

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama soccer team will face its next SEC opponent, the Ole Miss Rebels, Thursday night at 6 p.m. CT at the Ole Miss Soccer Stadium. The match will be broadcasted live on SEC Network.

The Tide has a current record of 8-4-2, 3-2-1 against SEC opponents.
Alabama has earned votes for the third consecutive week in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
Junior forward Casey Wertz leads the team with 13 points (4g-5a). Wertz concluded the 2018 season as the team's top scorer with 16 points (8g).
Freshman Carlee Giammona leads the squad with 37 shots taken, followed by Wertz with 36.
Through 14 matches this season, Alabama has seen 12 different players score a goal.
Alabama ranks first in the league in corner kicks earned for the third consecutive week, 116 in 14 games played.

Scouting Ole Miss

Thursday's match-up marks the 26th meeting in series history between the Tide and the Ole Miss Rebels.
- Alabama trails the all-time series 8-17-0.
- The last meeting on Sept. 13, 2018 ending in a 0-1 loss in Tuscaloosa.
Ole Miss has a current record of 8-4-2 with a 2-2-2 SEC conference mark.
- They are coming off a 1-2 loss against Georgia.
The Rebels ended its 2018 campaign with a 13-8-1 overall record, 6-3-1 in the SEC. Their season concluded in the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament with a 1-4 loss against then-No. 1 Stanford.
The team lost in the quarterfinals of the SEC Tournament to Arkansas, 0-4.
The Rebels' offense is led by junior striker Channing Foster. The team is 7-0 when Foster has found the back of the net. Conversely, when she has failed to score, they have posted a 1-4-2 record.
Head coach Matt Mott leads Ole Miss for his tenth season. Of the eight NCAA appearances in Ole Miss soccer history, four have come under Mott's leadership.
The team was picked to finish eighth in the SEC according to the Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Tide dominated offensively, outshooting the Tigers 20-3, with 11 being on frame. Kat Rogers led the team with four shots, followed by Maize with three.
Freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks earned her second career shutout, first against an SEC opponent. She collected two saves throughout the match.

Crooks Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Alabama freshman goalkeeper AJ Crooks was named SEC Freshman of the Week.
Crooks collected six saves against No. 17 Texas A&M, helping Alabama to its first non-loss against a ranked opponent of the season, a 1-1 tie. She held the Aggies to only one goal after facing 15 shots as well as four corner kick attempts, logging a career-high 110 minutes through two overtime periods.
She also led the Tide to its fourth shutout of the season against LSU, a 3-0 victory, facing two huge saves at 0-0.
In her six total college appearances, Crooks has collected four wins with three being versus conference opponents. All of Alabama's SEC conference wins have been with the freshman between the posts.
