Alabama Travels to College Station for Matchup Against Texas A&M

The Crimson Tide play against the Aggies on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT on ESPNU
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama hits the road for the second consecutive weekend to take on Texas A&M on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. CT inside Reed Arena. The Crimson Tide (9-7, 1-2 SEC) will look to rebound from a 66-56 home loss to Auburn, while the Aggies (12-4, 1-2 SEC) are coming off their first SEC win after besting Vanderbilt in Nashville on Thursday night.
THE BROADCAST
• Thursday's game will air live on ESPNU with Melissa Lee (play-by-play) and Steffi Sorensen (analyst) on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama will look to take down Texas A&M for the first time in history when it travels to College Station, Texas, on Sunday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. CT inside Reed Arena.
• The Crimson Tide (9-7, 1-2 SEC) has dropped its last two SEC contests after falling at home to Auburn, 66-56 on Thursday night in Tuscaloosa.
• The Aggies (12-4, 1-2 SEC) picked up its first SEC win of the season after pushing past Vanderbilt, 50-43, in Nashville on Thursday.
• Texas A&M is undefeated against the Tide since their first meeting in 2013. All-time the Aggies are 7-0 against UA, while besting Alabama by double figures in all but one game. Last season the Tide fell to the 16th-ranked Aggies, 73-54 on Jan. 18, 2018 at Coleman Coliseum.
ABOUT TEXAS A&M
• The Aggies finished non-conference play with an 11-2 record and lost their first two SEC contests to South Carolina and LSU, before bouncing back with a road win against Vanderbilt on Thursday.
• Texas A&M is first in the conference at defending the three-point shot, as the Aggies are holding their opponents to just 26.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
• A&M is led by last year's National Freshman of the Year and AP All-American in Chennedy Carter. Carter is averaging 21.2 points per game which ranks first in the SEC, while also pulling down 4.7 rebounds, dishing out 3.8 assists and grabbing 1.8 steals.
• In addition to Carter, the Aggies have three more players that average double-digit points in Aaliyah Wilson (13.8), Kayla Wells (13.3) and Ciera Johnson (11.4).
NEWS AND NOTES
• Sophomore Jasmine Walker has made great improvements this season with the Tide. The Montgomery, Ala. native, is currently the team's leading scorer and rebounder with 14.4 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with three double-doubles this season and has five games in which she has registered double-digit rebounds. At 38.9 percent from the three-point line, Walker is first on the team in percentage and three-pointers made (28). Her 7.4 rebounds per contest ranks T-12th in the SEC, while her 14.4 points ranks 13th in the league. In three SEC games, Walker is averaging 19.3 points per game which is good for third-best in the league.
• Over the last five games, Walker is averaging 18 points and 48.5 percent (16-of-33) from beyond the arc. She has scored at least 14 points and at least two three-pointers in each of the last five contests.
• Junior Cierra Johnson has scored in double digits in 12 of the last 13 games and was named to the Florida Sunshine Classic and Arizona State Classic All-Tournament Teams. She currently is second on the team with 13.8 points per game and is first on the team in total assists with 48 through 16 games. Three games ago, Johnson moved from shooting guard to starting at the point guard position with the injury to Jordan Lewis. Johnson is averaging 15.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists in those three games.
• Sophomore Ariyah Copeland's improvement can be spotted on the court and on the stat sheet. Through 16 games this season the Columbus, Ga. native, is tops on the team with 1.1
blocks per game and second on the team with 6.6 rebounds per contest. Copeland is also putting up 7.8 points per game, compared to averaging three points a game a season ago. The Columbus, Ga., native is second on the team with two double-doubles this season and has started the last seven games for the Tide.
