Alabama Women’s Golf Begins Play at the Schooner Fall Classic Friday

Crimson Tide one of 10 nationally-ranked teams in this year’s tournament
TUSCALOOSA Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team returns to Norman, Okla., for the third consecutive season for the Schooner Fall Classic, Sept. 28-30, at the par-71, 6,083-yard Belmar Golf Club. The Crimson Tide won last year's tournament with a 21-under par performance (281-281-269/831). Kristen Gillman earned individual medalist honors, shooting 13-under par (68-68-64/200) to equal the school 54-hole record.

Alabama Wins the ANNIKA Intercollegiate
The Crimson Tide opened the season with a victory at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate, Sept. 17-19, at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn. Alabama shot 11-under par on the back nine on Sunday to finish the tournament at -28 (284-275-277/836).
Junior Jiwon Jeon (77-67-65/209) was the Tide's low scorer, tying for sixth at -7. Fellow junior Kenzie Wright (67-67-78/212) equaled the school 36-hole record, shooting 134 over the first two rounds, and tied for 13th at -4. Both golfers were making their Alabama debuts at the ANNIKA.
Crimson Tide Boasts Three of the World's Top 10 Amateur Golfers
Alabama enters the Schooner Fall Classic with a line-up that features three golfers ranked in the top-10 in the latest World Amateur Golf Rankings, released Sept. 19. Junior Kristen Gillman, senior Lauren Stephenson and junior Jiwon Jeon are ranked No. 3, No. 5 and No. 9, respectively, this week.
