
Former Alabama Women’s Basketball Standout Ashley Williams Signs Professional Contract in Germany

The Covington, Ga., native signed with TSV 1880 Wasserburg
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Ashley Williams, Alabama's leading rebounder over the past two seasons, has signed to play professional basketball with TSV 1880 Wasserburg in Wasserburg, Germany.
"I just feel that this is the right fit for me," said Williams. "I spent some years of my youth in Germany because my father was stationed there in the US Army, and I've always wanted to go back. I'm incredibly excited for the opportunity."
Williams was an instrumental player for the Tide over the last several years as she finished her career ranked in the top 10 in scoring (No. 9 – 1,450), rebounds (No. 5 – 859), games played (No. 3 – 130) and games started (No. 3 – 119). The Covington, Ga., also totaling 20 double-doubles in her career, with eight coming in 2017-18. Williams was named to the 2014 SEC All-Freshman Team, along with being named SEC Freshman of the Week and SEC Player of the Week two times during her time at Alabama.
