Alabama Women’s Golfer Angelica Moresco Wins Pair of Silver Medals for Italy at the 2018 Mediterranean Games

Crimson Tide freshman was the runner-up in the individual standings as the Italians finish second in team chase
TARRAGONA, Spain – Alabama women's golfer Angelica Moresco fired a 1-under par 71 in the final round to take home the silver medal in women's golf at the 2018 Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, Spain, on Thursday.
The Caldogno, Italy, native and her Italian teammates also captured the silver medal in the women's team competition.
Moresco (69-72-72-71/284) finished at -4, to tie for first individually with Marta Sanz Barrio of Spain (69-75-72-68/284). Sanz Barrio clinching the gold medal in a playoff, with Moresco receiving the silver. Slovenia's Ana Belac (69-77-68-72/286), who plays collegiately at Duke, took home the bronze at -2. Spain won the team gold, followed by Italy and Slovenia in the silver and bronze medal spots, respectively.
"This week has been unbelievable," Moresco said. "I played well each day, so I am really happy with my game and how everything is going. Being out there with my team is always special, and I am so glad I had the opportunity to represent my country at the Mediterranean Games. It was a great experience that taught me a lot. I think this is a great start to the summer season."
The Mediterranean Games is an Olympic-style multi-sport competition that has been held every four years since 1951. The event is open to 26 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa that border the Mediterranean Sea. This year's 10-day event will conclude on July 1.
Moresco is also scheduled to play later this summer as a member of the Italian team in the European Ladies Team Championship, July 10-14, in Frohnleiten, Austria, and in the European Ladies Amateur Championship in Senica, Slovakia, July 25-28.
