Alabama Women’s Golf Earns No. 1 Seed at NCAA Tallahassee Regional

Postseason appearance is 13th in a row for the Crimson Tide under Mic Potter
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's golf team will be the No. 1 seed at the Tallahassee Regional in Tallahassee, Fla., the NCAA announced Wednesday evening.
The NCAA Tallahassee Regional will be held May 7-9 at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Club. Florida State University will be the host institution. The regional bid is the 13th-straight invitation to postseason competition for the Crimson Tide, which captured the program's first national championship in 2012 at the Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
The top six team finishers and top three individuals at the Tallahassee Regional will advance to the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club, May 18-23, in Stillwater, Okla., and join teams and individuals that will advance from the Austin, Texas; San Francisco, Calif. and Madison, Wis. regionals. Joining Alabama as No. 1 regional seeds are UCLA (San Francisco), Arkansas (Austin) and Duke (Madison).
"We're excited to be the top seed in the Tallahassee Regional," Alabama head coach Mic Potter said on Wednesday evening. "I'm glad we have minimal travel relatively speaking, and similar grasses and conditions to what we see in Alabama. I like the makeup of our team and we're ready to get started."
For Potter, the regional berth marks the 26th consecutive postseason appearance by a team under his direction. Potter's Furman squads made 13 trips to the NCAAs during prior to his move to the Capstone. The Hall of Fame coach has led a team to a regional bid each season since the current format came into existence in 1993.
Joining Alabama at the Tallahassee Regional are No. 2-seed Furman, No. 3-seed Arizona, No. 4-seed Washington and No. 5-seed Wake Forest.
The 18-team Tallahassee Regional boasts four other Southeastern Conference teams in addition to the Crimson Tide: No. 6 Vanderbilt, No. 9 Georgia, No. 10 Tennessee and No. 16 Missouri. Other regional teams include No. 7 Florida State, No. 8 Clemson, No. 11 UNLV, No. 12 Kennesaw State, No. 13 Denver, No. 14 Coastal Carolina, No. 16 College of Charleston, No. 17 Richmond and No. 18 Albany.
Alabama won the Athens Regional in Athens, Ga., last season before posting an eighth-straight top-15 finish at the 2017 NCAA Championships in Sugar Grove, Ill.
