Portious Warren narrowly misses a school record in the women’s shot put
AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama track & field team wrapped up competition at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala., on Saturday with wins in the sprints, jumps and throws that included a narrow miss on a new school record in the women's shot put.
The highlight for the Tide women on Saturday was the performance by thrower Portious Warren. The junior was the top collegiate finisher in the shot put with a personal best mark of 56-5 ¾ (17.21m). The shot put effort ranks No. 2 all-time at Alabama, just ¾ of an inch off of the school record. Warren also finshed as the the runner-up in the discus with another personal best of 164-4 (50.09m).
