Alabama Men’s Tennis Travels to Baton Rouge for First SEC Road Contest Against LSU

The Crimson Tide will compete against the Tigers on Friday at 4 p.m.
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 37 Alabama men's tennis team will travel to Baton Rouge, La., for its first Southeastern Conference road match against LSU at 4 p.m. on Friday at the LSU Tennis Complex.
Both teams are looking for their first SEC win with the Tide falling to No. 34 Vanderbilt and No. 28 Kentucky this past weekend. The Tigers dropped two matches to No. 50 Arkansas and No. 30 Ole Miss to open SEC play.
The Crimson Tide is led by sophomore Edson Ortiz who has compiled a 13-1 record in singles play, while No. 92 junior Mazen Osama has earned a 7-2 mark in the No. 1 spot in singles, including a 2-2 mark against nationally ranked opponents. The two as a pair rank as the No. 31 duo in the country with an 11-1 record. Also, the sophomore pair of Thibault Cancel and Alexey Nesterov fell a few spots to No. 46 in the latest Oracle/ITA Doubles Rankings after earning an 8-2 record so far in 2018.
As a team, Alabama jumped up from No. 44 to No. 37 in the most recent Oracle/ITA Team Rankings that were released on Tuesday.
Alabama will look to win its third-straight match over LSU after the Tide defeated the No. 48-ranked Tigers, 4-3 on March 18, 2016 and again on March 19, 2017 (6-1).
