Crimson Tide to face No. 24 LSU in Baton Rouge on Sunday at 2 p.m.
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team (17-11, 7-8 SEC) will play its final game of the 2017-18 regular season on Sunday when it takes on No. 24 LSU (18-8, 10-5 SEC) in Baton Rouge. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. CT start in the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
THE BROADCAST
• Sunday's game will air on SEC Network + with Patrick Wright and Jeff Palermo on the call.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama looks to pick up its eighth win in Southeastern Conference play on Sunday when it takes on LSU in Baton Rouge.
• Should the Crimson Tide come out with a win, it would mark the first time since the 1997-98 season that Alabama won eight games in league play.
• Last time out, the Crimson Tide lost a heartbreaker to No. 19 Georgia in overtime, 49-43.
• Alabama has won four Southeastern Conference road games this season, which is the most since it had four during the 1997-98 season.
• Alabama senior Ashley Williams was recognized as the SEC Player of the Week on Tuesday after recording a pair of double-doubles last week. She was also tabbed to the NCAA's Starting Five on Wednesday.
• Sunday's game is the second of the season between the Tide and Lady Tigers. Alabama won the earlier meeting between the two teams by a score of 65-51 in Tuscaloosa, however LSU leads the overall series, 39-19. The Tide's last victory in Baton Rouge came on Jan. 29, 1998, 67-54.
SCOUTING ALABAMA
• Alabama enters Sunday's game with a 17-11 overall record and a 7-8 mark in Southeastern Conference play.
• UA is 6-4 in road games this season, which includes a 4-3 mark against league opponents.
• The Crimson Tide is led in scoring by senior Hannah Cook, who averages 11.1 points per game and in rebounding by fellow senior Ashley Williams, who averages 6.6 boards per contest. Sophomore Jordan Lewis leads the way in assists with 3.3 per game.
• Sophomore Ashley Knight leads the team and ranks fourth in the SEC and 41st nationally in blocks per game with an average of 2.07. She is currently second in career blocks at Alabama (148) and is 39 away from tying Yolanda Watkins (187) for most in program history.
• In three of its last four games, UA has shot over 80 percent from the free throw line, hitting 82.4 percent (28-34) at Ole Miss, 87.4 percent (14-16) at Tennessee and 89.3 percent (25-28) against Auburn.
• As a team, the Crimson Tide is averaging 68.3 points per game, 6.0 more than its opponents, and is outrebounding the opposition 39.7-35.3.
• After finishing the 2016-17 season last in the SEC in free throw percentage, Alabama has jumped up to fifth, hitting 73.1 percent of its attempts as a team.
• In 21 of its 28 games this season, Alabama has had eight or more in the scoring column. In nine of those 21 games, 10 or more scored for the Crimson Tide.
SCOUTING LSU
• LSU stands at 18-8 overall and 10-5 in Southeastern Conference play heading into Sunday's matchup.
• The Lady Tigers are 10-1 at the PMAC this season with the lone loss coming to Mississippi State, 83-70.
• Last time out, LSU fell at South Carolina, 57-48. Senior Raigyne Louis led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists and six steals, while playing all 40 minutes of the contest.
• The Lady Tigers are led in scoring by junior Chloe Jackson, who averages 17.5 points per game. Redshirt sophomore Ayana Mitchell leads the way in rebounds with 7.9 per contest, while redshirt senior Raigyne Louis is the team's leader in assists with 3.7 per game.
• As a team, LSU is averaging 65.7 points per game and 36.5 rebounds per contest. The Lady Tigers also steal the ball an average of 9.8 times per game.
• LSU is coached by Nikki Fargas, who is in her seventh season at LSU and 10th overall as a head coach. She holds a record of 131-91 at LSU and 203-117 overall.
