A little more than half of the Crimson Tide’s rosters will make the trip to Auburn for the three-day invitational
AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama swimming and diving teams will close out the regular season this weekend at the Auburn Invitational in Auburn, Ala. The meet will run Feb. 2-4. Prelims will begin at 9:30 a.m. each day. Finals start at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
The three-day meet is a different look for the Crimson Tide when it comes to the end of the regular season. In years past, Alabama has finished things out with a dual meet, usually at home before rolling into the postseason. This time around, head coach Dennis Pursley and his staff are using the invitational to solidify the last spots on the men's and women's championship rosters.
Swimmers who have already claimed a spot on Tide's postseason roster will train through the weekend in Tuscaloosa.
This will be Alabama's second trip to the Plains this season after splitting with the Tigers in a November dual meet at the James E. Martin Aquatic Center. The Tide women came out with their first win at Auburn since 1996.
The meet gets underway Friday with the 200 freestyle relay as well as the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 freestyle and 400 medley relay.
