Alabama Swimmers Wins Three Races on Final Day of the Auburn Invitational

Lexi Souther, Allie Surrency and Paige Matherson all scored wins on the invitational’s third and final day
AUBURN, Ala. – Alabama swimmers won three races on the third and final day of the Auburn Invitational held in the James E. Martin Aquatic Center this weekend.
Sophomore Lexi Souther clocked a 1:57.54 to win the 200 backstroke while junior Sarah Helm was fourth with a 1:59.79. Souther's time was a career-best and ranks her sixth all-time at Alabama.
The Crimson Tide went 1-2-3 in the women's 100 freestyle. Sophomore Allie Surrency took first with a 50.11, followed by freshman Sezin Eligul (50.50) and junior Caroline Beene (50.52). All three times were career-best marks and Surrency's time ranks her 10th all-time at Alabama.
Senior Paige Matherson won the 200 butterfly with a career-best time of 2:00.10, while Nicole Raicik (2:04.26) took fifth.
Juniors Emma Murray (2:15.54) and Marian Yurchishin (2:16.39) took, third and fourth, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke. It was a career-best mark for Murray. Freshmen Michael Burris (2:00.34) and Josh Lenzmeier (2:02.43) took third and fifth, respectively, in the men's 200 breaststroke.
Senior Braxton Young took fourth in the 100 freestyle with a career-best 44.13 while freshman Christian Strycker took fourth in the 200 butterfly with a 1:48.57.
The Auburn Invitational was the final meet of the regular season for the Crimson Tide. Alabama opens the post season Feb. 14-18 with the Southeastern Conference Championships hosted by Texas A&M.
