Alabama Looks to Get Back on Track Against Tulane Saturday

The Crimson is prepared to take on the Green Wave at 2 p.m. CT in Coleman Coliseum
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's basketball team looks to get back on track when it takes on Tulane on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. CT inside Coleman Coliseum. The Crimson Tide (5-4) will try to snap a three-game losing streak to a Green Wave (7-1) squad that has won their last three contests.
PROMOTIONS
• Teddy Bear Toss game. Fans who bring a stuffed animal to donate will receive a $3 ticket.
THE BROADCAST
• Saturday's game will stream live on SEC Network + via the WatchESPN app. Gray Robertson (play-by-play) and Rick Moody (analyst) will be on the call and will be joined by sideline reporter Eryn Cooper.
• The game can also be heard on the Crimson Tide Sports Network on 93.3 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• Alabama looks to snap it's three-game losing streak when it takes on Tulane on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. CT in the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.
• The Crimson Tide (5-4) is coming off a loss to South Alabama in the 5th Grade Fastbreak game on Wednesday, while Tulane has won seven of its first eight games for the first time since 2014-15.
• Alabama leads the all-time series 8-4, with most recently defeating the Green Wave, 72-64 in the third round of the WNIT on March 23, 2017.
ALABAMA VS. AAC
• The Crimson Tide is 6-2 against current American Athletic Conference teams. Since the AAC's inception in 2013, the Tide has compiled a 4-1 record in the regular season and 2-1 mark in WNIT play against AAC teams.
• The Tide is 1-1 against AAC teams this year when UA came away with a 62-61 overtime win over SMU (11/15) and then fell to Tulsa (12/1), 80-73 in the Arizona State Classic.
ABOUT TULANE
• Green Wave head coach Lisa Stockton picked up her 500th win at Tulane on Tuesday night against Nicholls State (71-46) in her 25th year with the program.
• Tulane has won seven of its first eight games for the first time since 2014-15. The Green Wave are one of just two teams in the American Athletic Conference with at least seven wins at this point in the season (UConn).
• The Green Wave are led by Krystal Freeman who is 13.6 points per game and 5.8 rebounds, along with Sierra Cheatham 11.9 points a game.
• Last season the Green Wave finished 14-17 and 5-11 in the AAC.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Junior point guard Jordan Lewis made her return against South Alabama (12/5) after missing five games due to a knee injury. In her first contest back, Lewis had a fantastic game and led the Tide with 18 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals. Lewis has started all 71 games she's played in during her time at Alabama and is one of two returning starters from the 2017-18 team. She is also currently tied for eighth all-time in assists, with 273.
• Sophomore Jasmine Walker has made significant strides through eight games this season with the Tide. The Montgomery, Ala. native, currently leads the team in points and rebounds with 12.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with two double-doubles this season. Her 7.7 rebounds per contest ranks 10th in the SEC. Most recently, Walker was granted an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA and is now classified as a sophomore.
• 2018 NJCAA Player of the Year Cierra Johnson has taken some time to get adjusted to the play of Division I competition, only averaging nine points per game through the first three games. However, the junior has scored in double digits in each of the last six games and was named to the Arizona State Classic All-Tournament Team (12/2).
• Kristy Curry is just two wins away from reaching another coaching milestone with 400 wins in her career. Curry ranks 4th in the SEC among active coaches in career wins and is just 11 wins away from her 100th victory at Alabama.
