All four Crimson Tide boats finish in the top-10 on the final day of fall racing
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Alabama rowing closed out its final weekend of the fall season with gold in the Women's Open 8+. Four crews rolled out and all four finished in the top-10.
Sunday's race improves the Tide's weekend total to nine top-10 finishes across four events.
"We feel like we are making progress and are grateful for the Head of the Hooch allowing us to enter an 8+ after the pair event was cancelled," UA head coach Glenn Putyrae said.
Due to weather conditions, the Women's Open 2- was cancelled, leaving the Women's Open 8+ as the lone competing boat of the day for the Tide. Alabama's gold-medal crew (6:35.373) finished five seconds ahead of second-place Wisconsin. The other three Tide crews rounded out the event in fifth (6:46.412), seventh (6:52.088) and eighth (6:53.748).
"As we head into winter training, we have a good sense of where we are and are eager to continue working to get better," Putyrae said.
This weekend's competition concluded the Tide's fall racing season. Alabama will be back on the water for its spring season Saturday, March 2 when it hosts Eastern Michigan.
