
Alabama Set for First Game of Arizona State Classic Against Tulsa

The Crimson Tide will take on the Golden Hurricane on Saturday at approximately 4:30 p.m. CT in Tempe, Ariz.
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Alabama women's basketball team begins the Arizona State Classic against Tulsa at 4:30 p.m. CT on Saturday inside Wells Fargo Arena in Tempe, Ariz. The Crimson Tide (5-1) is currently riding a four-game win streak heading into the contest against the Golden Hurricane (4-3).
THE BROADCAST
• The game can be heard locally on 100.1 FM in Tuscaloosa with Roger Hoover on the broadcast.
OPENING TIP
• The Crimson Tide will head out west for the second time early on this season when it plays against Tulsa on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 4:30 p.m. CT in the first game of the Arizona State Classic inside Wells Fargo Arena. UA will play either No. 19 Arizona State or Louisiana Tech on Sunday to finish out the tournament.
• Alabama is currently on a four-game win streak, with its last three victories coming by a double-digit margin.
• The Crimson Tide most recently defeated Stetson, 59-47 on Tuesday night, while Tulsa is coming off a 75-63 win against Abilene Christian on Wednesday.
ALABAMA VS. AAC
• The Crimson Tide is 6-1 against current American Athletic Conference teams. Since the AAC's inception in 2013, the Tide has compiled a 4-0 record in the regular season and 2-1 mark in WNIT play against AAC teams.
• The Tide has already played one AAC team this year when UA came away with a 62-61 overtime win over SMU on Nov. 15 in Dallas.
• In addition to Thursday's matchup, the Tide will also play its third AAC opponent of the year when it takes on Tulane on Saturday, Dec. 8 in Tuscaloosa.
ABOUT TULSA
• The Golden Hurricane is coming into Saturday's game with a 4-3 record, including winning three of its last four games.
• Senior forward Crystal Polk leads TU with 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, while junior guard Alexis Gaulden comes in with 13.4 points and 3.7 assists per contest.
• In 2017-18 Tulsa finished with a 10-21 record, including a 3-13 record in the American Athletic Conference.
NEWS AND NOTES
• Head coach Kristy Curry is just two wins away from reaching another coaching milestone with 400 wins in her career. Curry ranks 4th in the SEC among active coaches in career wins and is just 11 wins away from her 100th victory at Alabama.
• With the first RPI Report coming out on Monday, Nov. 26, Alabama came in as the top team in the SEC after earning a No. 13 ranking, the Tide also has a No. 28 strength of schedule.
• Junior Jasmine Walker has made significant strides through six games this season with the Tide. The Montgomery, Ala. native, currently leads the team in points and rebounds with 14.7 points and 8.0 rebounds per game. Walker also leads the team with two double-doubles this season and has scored in double-figures in five out of six games.
• 2018 NJCAA Player of the Year Cierra Johnson has taken some time to get adjusted to the play of Division I competition, only averaging nine points per game through the first three games. However, over the last three games the junior seems to be finding her game after averaging 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.
