TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball's second addition during the early signing period is pitcher Alexis Kilfoyl from Land O' Lakes, Fla. She is ranked No. 2 overall on Extra Innings Softball's class of 2019 list and No. 16 on FloSoftball's Hot 100.
"We are so excited to welcome a great young lady and her family to our Alabama softball family," UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. "Lexi becomes the latest in a long line of outstanding pitchers to be recruited from the state of Florida. We knew she was the one we wanted after watching her in a tournament in Orlando several years ago. She has all the tools necessary to succeed at the highest levels of college softball. She not only won a high school state championship but a national championship in summer ball as well."
Kilfoyl finished her 2018 season at Academy at the Lakes with a 0.32 ERA, 249 strikeouts and .097 opponent batting average. She earned 2018 Florida Gatorade Player of the Year honors after leading her team to the 2018 state championship. In 2018, Kilfoyl also earned First Team All-USA honors and was named the Class 2A Player of the Year. She is a multi-sport athlete, also competing in volleyball and basketball.
With her club team, East Cobb Bullets Schnute, Kilfoyl claimed the 2016 USA Junior Olympics Cup Championship and won the 2018 Triple Crown National Championship. In 2017, she played on the Junior Women's National Team and has been extended an invitation to try out for the 2019 squad along with current Tide freshmen Montana Fouts and Skylar Wallace.
Kilfoyl is the second to sign a national letter of intent with Alabama during the early signing period, joining outfielder Jenna Johnson from Franklin, Tenn.
