TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama softball signed its first player during the early signing period Thursday, adding outfielder Jenna Johnson to next year's Crimson Tide roster.
Johnson hails from Franklin, Tenn., and is listed on FloSoftball's Hot 100 and Extra Innings Softball's rankings for the 2019 class.
"We are thrilled to get a young lady the caliber of Jenna to join our family," UA head coach Patrick Murphy said. "She filled a big need in being a right-handed hitting outfielder."
At Page High School, she holds multiple single-season records, including a .686 on base percentage in 2018, 11 home runs and a 1.114 slugging percentage in 2017 and 24 stolen bases and a .591 batting average in 2016. Jenna is a two-time all-state and defensive player of the year honoree and was named the All-District MVP in 2017. As a sophomore, she helped her team win districts for the first time in 21 years.
Jenna plays travel ball for Fury Platinum, which placed fifth at TCS Nationals in 2018 and earned its second-straight top-20 finish at PGF Nationals. The team were Atlanta Legacy Champions in 2016 and 2017 and also posted top-three finishes at Colorado Fireworks, with Johnson earning All-American Team honors at the 2016 tournament.
