Emma Welch Named SEC Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Welch earns postseason honors
TUSCALOOSA, ALA. – Alabama midfielder Emma Welch was named to the 2018 Southeastern Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, as announced by the league office Sunday afternoon.
Welch, who hails from McDonough, Georgia is the fourth Alabama player to ever receive the conference's Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors. She is a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and has the distinction of being named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American Third Team.
The Presidential Scholar is currently enrolled in the Accelerated Master's Program at the Capstone, where she is pursuing her undergraduate and graduate degree simultaneously, and owns a 4.0 cumulative grade point average in both.
On the field, the senior captain has been one of the Tide's top contributors throughout her four-year career at the Capstone. She finished her career having accumulated 23 assists breaking the program's all-time career assists record.
