
Alabama Readies for 31st Annual Roberta Alison Classic

The Crimson Tide will begin play on Friday at the Alabama Tennis Stadium
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama women's tennis team will host the 31st Roberta Alison Fall Classic on Friday, Oct. 26 and Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Alabama Tennis Stadium. Six student-athletes will represent the Crimson Tide in the annual tournament.
Juniors Alba Cortina Pou, Luca Fabian, Kimberley Gintrand, Jacqueline Pelletier, Ann Selim, and sophomore Moka Ito will compete this weekend.
Ito will take on Alexandria Stiteler (South Alabama), Cortina Pou plays against Alisha Reayer (Memphis), Fabian will play Ally Miller-Krasilnikov (Clemson), Selim matches up with Maryann Rompf (Wisconsin), Pelletier gets Andjelija Bozvoic (Indiana), while Gintrand will compete against Ash Harvey (Air Force) in first round singles play.
In doubles, Cortina Pou/Fabian will play Fumagalli/Kerrigan (Air Force), Ito/Pelletier match up against Jumamukhambetova/Potter (UT Martin) and Gintrand/Selim will take on Kuo/Laskey (Air Force) on Friday.
The first round of doubles is set to start on Friday at 9 a.m., followed by the first round of singles. The second round of singles will take place after lunch.
The second round of doubles will begin on Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by the third round of doubles. After lunch, the event will conclude with the third round of singles.
If inclement weather interferes on Friday or Saturday to the point of cancellation, then the schedule will be pushed back a day and matches will be played on Sunday, Oct. 28.
Teams competing in the tournament include, Indiana, Lewis University, Western Michigan, UT Martin, South Alabama, Troy, Samford, DePaul, Ole Miss, UAB, Mississippi State, Tulane, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Clemson, Kennesaw State, South Florida, Air Force, East Carolina and Memphis.
