
Alabama Continues SEC Play Sunday at Arkansas

SCOUTING ALABAMA
- Alabama is 16-6 overall and 3-5 in conference play after sweeping Mississippi State Wednesday in Tuscaloosa. The win marked the second-straight home sweep for the Crimson Tide, following the Oct. 10 win over Alabama State.
- Among SEC teams, Alabama's defense leads the league in digs (1,174 - 15.45/set) and is third in blocks (182 - 2.39/set). Individually, senior Quincey Gary is fourth in the league with 318 digs (4.18/set) while senior Cidavia Hall is ranked seventh in blocks with 80 (1.05/set)
- The Tide is ranked No. 35 in this week's NCAA RPI, the fifth-highest among SEC teams.
- Head Coach Ed Allen is in his eighth season at the helm of the program in 2018, owning a 150-98 (.605) record at UA and a 644-281 (.696) overall mark as a head coach
LAST TIME OUT: ALABAMA SWEEPS MISSISSIPPI STATE WEDNESDAY IN TUSCALOOSA
A pair of long scoring streaks propelled Alabama to an eight-point win in the opening set before Mississippi State battled to a close second set, reaching set point before the Crimson Tide avoided the loss with a two-point win. The third set was all Alabama, with the Tide cruising to a double-digit win to complete the sweep.
Sophomore Doris Carter posted her fifth double-double of the season, finishing the match with 13 kills and 14 digs. Fellow sophomore Meghan Neelon added her sixth double-double of the season with 32 assists and 10 digs. Junior Mahalia Swink tied for the team lead with 13 kills, hitting .407 with just two errors on 27 swings, and sophomore Kaylee Thomas led the back-row defense with 17 digs.
WIN STREAK VS. SEC
- Alabama's seven-match win streak over Arkansas is the Tide's longest active win streak against any SEC team
- Against all SEC teams, this is tied for the fifth-longest win streak in program history. The longest was a 15-win streak against Ole Miss from 1998-2006
- This weekend's match is the first of two this season against the Razorbacks, as the teams will meet again in Tuscaloosa for the final match of the regular season on Friday, Nov. 23

- Defensively, the team currently ranks seventh in digs per set (15.45) and eighth in blocks-per-set (2.39). The blocks average is the highest under Ed Allen and the highest for any Tide team since 2006
- Senior Quincey Gary is averaging 4.18 digs per set this season, which is seventh in UA history. This trails her previous best mark of 4.43 from last year, which ranks third.
- Cidavia Hall is 14th with 1.05 blocks per set this season, which is the highest mark under Allen and for any Tide player since 2006

GARY CONTINUES TO CLIMB CAREER DIGS LIST AT UA
- Senior libero Quincey Gary heads into Sunday's match against Arkansas ranked fourth on Alabama's career digs list with 1,269
- Gary passed Michelle Green's (1997-00) career total of 1,264 digs in Wednesday's match against Mississippi State. She is now 91 away from third-place Lorian Newcomer (1993-95) with 1,360 career digs
- Gary is one of four Tide athletes in the top 10 coached by Ed Allen, including Natalie Murison (2nd - 1,501), Brittany Thomas (6th - 1,195) and Kryssi Daniels (8th - 1,145)
- The Alexandria, Ind., native also ranks eighth in career digs-per-set at 3.03. The last Tide player to play four seasons at UA and finish above 3.00 in digs-per-set for their career was Amy Pauly (2005-08) at 3.91
