TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama women's golfer Lauren Stephenson will compete in the 2017 U.S. Women's Open July 13-16 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J. Stephenson qualified for this year's Open after winning a playoff at the U.S. Women's Open sectional tournament at the Governor's Club in Chapel Hill, N.C. on June 12.
Stephenson (71-71/142) tied for second at the sectional with former South Carolina golfer Katelyn Dambaugh at two-under par then defeated Dambaugh in a playoff for the second qualifying spot. Stephenson joins Furman's Natalie Srinivasan, who won the sectional at three-under par (70-71/141), as qualifiers from the Chapel Hill sectional.
