Erin Routliffe will compete in the singles bracket as well as the doubles draw with partner Maddie Pothoff
INDNAPOLIS – Alabama senior Erin Routliffe was picked as an at-large selection to compete in the NCAA women's tennis singles championship for her third straight year, while partnering up with freshman Maddie Pothoff to earn an at-large selection to the doubles championship. All matches will take place at the Dan Magill Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, Ga., from May 24-29.
Routliffe earned a No. 9-16 seed in the singles bracket based upon her strong performance in the regular season. She most recently was named First Team All-SEC for the fourth straight year. Routliffe is currently ranked No. 14 in singles in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, playing all of her matches from the top position in singles and doubles.
Pothoff and Routliffe will enter the tournament as a No. 5-8 seed in this year's doubles bracket, giving the pair ITA All-America honors. The duo collected five victories over nationally ranked doubles opponents during the 2017 spring campaign.
The Tide has been represented in the NCAA individual tournament in each of the last eight years and both the singles and doubles tournament in the same season seven times.
All matches will be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and seven-point tiebreaker (first to seven points, must win by two points) at six-games-all will be used for all matches. In doubles, a 10-point match tiebreaker will be played in lieu of a third set.
The tournament draw will be announced at a later date.
