Alabama Women’s Golf Advances to Championship Match at Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic

Crimson Tide will meet host Georgia in Sunday’s final match for a chance to repeat at Classic champions
ATHENS, Ga. – The Alabama women's golf team posted wins over USC and Denver in Saturday's match play rounds at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the par-72 6,300-yard University of Georgia Golf Club to set up a championship match showdown with the host Georgia Bulldogs on Sunday.
Playing at the par-72, 6,300-yard University of Georgia Golf Club, the No. 3 seed Crimson Tide opened play Saturday morning with a 3.5-1.5 win over No. 7 USC. Freshman Kristen Gillman, sophomore Cheyenne Knight and junior Lakareber Abe posted wins and senior Mia Landegren halved her match to clinch the Tide the win.
Alabama returned to the course in the afternoon and posted a 4-1 win over No. 2 seed Denver. Knight, Abe and sophomore Lauren Stephenson picked up wins while Gillman and Landegren halved their matches to close out the victory and put the Tide in position to defend its match play title from a year ago.
Sunday's championship round will tee off at 8:20 a.m. CT.
